Tzachi Buchbut was born in 1979 and lives in Tel Aviv. From 2002 to 2006 he studied at Midrasha School of Art, Beit Berl College. From December 2009 to May 2010 he visited Düsseldorf as a stipendiary of the Kunststiftung NRW. In 2007 he received the Sharet Skulptur Stipend from the America Israel Foundation. His works have been shown in different solo exhibitions, among them Avalanche at Barbur Gallery, Jerusalem and Say it right at Galerie Lohamei hagetaot. Furthermore he was part of several group exhibitions, for example at Artic 8 by America Israel Cultural Foundation, Omanut haAretz at Reading Power Station and Tel Aviv Contemporary Art Fair Fresh Paint 2.
Tzachi Buchbut engages in the area between drawing, sculpture and installation. Based on his interest in moments of control and loss of control, Buchbut challenges the perception of the viewer: materials are difficult to identify, glazing surfaces deceive, artistic work and surrounding merge. In his exhibitions he creates fantastic spaces, where the singular works are in close connection to each other and generate a noticeable tension.
