David Adika lives and works in Tel Aviv. He started his artistic education at Bezalel Academy of Art and Design in Jerusalem. After he received his MFA degree in 2004, he had solo exhibitions at Herzliya Museum of Art, Tel Aviv Museum of Art and East Central Gallery in London. Furthermore he participated in group exhibitions in Israel, Norway, Spain and Sweden. Adika was awarded different prizes and stipends, for example a residency at Cité internationale des Arts in Paris in 2008 and a residency in Barcelona in 2009.
On the one hand, Adika portrays people, on the other hand, he photographs everyday objects. By staging plants, objects of everyday use and collector’s items in the studio in different sizes and lightning conditions, he transforms the ordinary into something special and engages in topics like classification, culture, drama, identity and disintegration.
