Anja Sieber was born in Offenbach am Main in 1964. She studied Romance Studies, Theater-, Film- und Fernsehwissenschaften and French and Portuguese Literature at Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main. During a study visit in Lisbon from 1985 to 1986 she discovered painting. She is co-founder of the publishing company Avinus and worked five years as lector and journalist in Paris. Since 2008 Sieber studies painting at Akademie für Malerei in Berlin, where she lives.
Sieber transfers language and its information into paintings by writing down texts from her everyday life in several layers one upon the other, which results in a concise entanglement of lines. She works with watercolor and ball pen and spills latex as scripture on canvas and foil. Combined pieces of information flow into her work an create a new, tense space of information.
