Carsten Fock works at developing a processual, analytical kind of painting, which evokes and comments on those forms of art that are associated with transcendence, ecstasy, and inner experience. His works are the result pondering and thinking about painting, as well as of his own artistic development. The repeated swirls of paint, stains and smudges, which condense or disperse, are associated with the movement of thinking and feeling. At the same time, in his installations Fock wants to question and expand classic forms of representation of ‘modern’ painting: the integration of the space and the beholder, the deconstruction of the white cube, experimenting with proportions, perspectives, and scale.
